Partnering for success with Health Futures Australia

In partnership with Health Futures Australia, a health promotion charity, Rijk Zwaan Australia is embarking on an experiment enabling young people to experience agriculture and develop a love for growing fresh food (and eating it!).

In the Hepburn Shire in Victoria, Australia a new project has been launched over summer called SHIFT Young Growers. The SHIFT (Sustainable Healthy Integrated Food Towns) Young Growers initiative will enable several young people aged 16 to 25 years with an interest in farming-agriculture to gain paid part-time work and learning experience in a variety of ‘seed to service’ settings in the Shire.

The Young Growers will rotate between Rijk Zwaan in Musk, and two local organic farms of different size and operations to learn about, grow and harvest fresh produce. Some of the produce will then be provided to the SHIFT Healthy Lunch Kitchen to provide nutritious school lunches from January 2022 to June 2022.

This is a paid experience for the Young Growers and it will operate intensively over the summer break in Australia.
